Ambient Internet noise thermometer — lightweight probe, JSON/MD reports, weak-signal detection
Problem: Ambient Internet noise (semantic agitation + pressure/volume) drowns weak signals.
Solution: Sentinel Probe continuously measures agitation (semantic urgency vs calm, 11 classes via sentence-transformers/paraphrase-multilingual-MiniLM-L12-v2) and pressure (volume) to distinguish isolated vibration from shockwave and catch weak signals (high intensity + low volume) early.
Transparent status: Work in progress. CLI operational (mission.py, sentinel_probe.py --scan-accel). Dormant service: specs, manifest and implementation prepared in service/ with SENTINEL_ENABLED=0 — no route /v1/probe/* exposed on https://services4agents.fyi before human signal. Target rail x402 USDC on Base (0.10 USDC / 300s tranche, linear).
Goal: measure ambient noise to see change. 4 metrics: 11-class agitation (metrics/semantic_metrics.py:19), pressure, weak signals, qualification Human/Erratic vs Machine(Burst) vs Stable (sentinel_probe.py:954).
What the service does NOT promise: does not predict a crisis, does not guarantee a signal on every scan. Short-window RSS = Stable (OPERATIONAL_GUIDE.md:60), only the real-time lane (Bluesky+Mastodon) catches a burst. Without BSKY_USER/PASSWORD, Bluesky = 0 posts (AMELIORATIONS_TODO.md:11).

Burst hypothesis: 6 probes flash 60s spaced 10 min / 1h → Stable→Human/Erratic|Machine(Burst). Watch hypothesis: 24 probes standard 300s / 1h / 24h → crisis emergence (report N vs N-1). Series bundle = monetizable format (tranche remains dormant brick). See OPERATIONAL_GUIDE.md:47.
CLI today: sentinel_probe.py, mission.py, deploy/docker-compose.yml (Bluesky, Akkoma, RSS Bridge). Runs: 30s→22 samples, 1800s→51–55 (~1.8/min).
Dormant API: service/server.py (SENTINEL_ENABLED=0), service/x402.py spec v2 (Base eip155:8453 USDC 0x833589fCD6eDb6E08f4c7C32D4f71b54bdA02913, CDP facilitator api.cdp.coinbase.com, gas cap 0.5 gwei), 8001/8766. No route exposed before signal — no directory indexing.
Dormant pricing: tranches = ceil(duration/300), amount = tranches×100000 (USDC 6 decimals). Series bundle to be calibrated after bench.
Sovereignty (abort), stealth (jitter, backoff 429), semantic=false by default, privacy-by-design (anonymous metrology, Knowledge Treasury).
Does not replace investigation, does not guarantee a signal. Calibration 60/300/600/1800/3600s ×3 runs to produce (ceiling = +1 tranche < +10% samples < 2% chaos).
